You feel the darkness and anxiety of grief’s approaching shadow. It hovers over your shoulder like a tax collector, refusing to leave until it collects its due. You ignore it as long as you can, but deep down inside you know that, eventually, you are going to have to pay up.
When your next tax day arrives, I recommend watching one of these movies. They deliver empathy for the barren experience (loss, vocation, adoption, you name it) and help me relinquish the number of tears which my own grievous tax collector requires:
- Follow Me, Boys
- Julie and Julia
- Anne of Green Gables
- The Secret Garden
- My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend
- Sarah, Plain and Tall
If you have any other movie recommendations, please send them my way. It would be nice to have something new to watch on tax day.
