Collect of the Week

Godspeed, Kristi!

Let us pray…

“Gracious and merciful God…Bless Kristi’s going out and her coming in. In Your name she begins her journey to her daughter; let Kristi accomplish it with You as her constant companion. Let the host of angels surround and guard her like Jacob. Let Your angel stand by her in every danger as he stood by St. Paul. Let the company of Your angels travel with her going and coming, as with Joseph and Mary when they fled to Egypt with the young child Jesus, that she may remain safe from all misfortune, from thieves, murderers, and any other injury. O keeper of Israel, You never slumber or sleep; be a wall of fire around Kristi and her family by day and by night, as You were to Elisha, that no misfortune or disaster come near them. Accompany them all along their path with Your angels’ watch, as You guided the children of Israel through the desert with a pillar of cloud and of fire. Be their companion when they are traveling. Stay with them when they rest. Watch for them while they are sleeping. Yes, Lord, take care of them wherever they go and let them be commended to Your holy protection. Amen”*

Collect of the Week:

Let us pray…

Lord God, Heavenly Father, You are the Author and Giver of life. Thank you for all the many blessings of children that have been brought into loving families. Give wisdom to parents; enable them to teach their children about Your love. Lord God, send Your Holy Spirit to comfort those who mourn, especially those who grieve the death of a child. Grant peace to those women whose bodies cannot sustain a pregnancy. Remind them of their life in Your Son’s death and resurrection; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.

Collect of the Week:

Let us pray…

O blessed Holy Trinity, You have created us, redeemed us, and sanctified us.  All praise and glory be to You.  By grace, we acknowledge and confess You to be Lord and God.  Keep us steadfast in Your Word and give us strength to face all adversities.  As we pass through trials, remind us that our trust is in You.  Help us rejoice with those who rejoice.  Enable us to boldly proclaim the Holy Trinity and live our vocations confidently in You; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.

O God, You sent Your Holy Spirit to your people on Pentecost.  Grant us grace to live in the same Spirit, rejoicing in our membership in the family of God.  May we give thanks to You for the gifts You have bestowed upon Your people.  Give us strength to bear our crosses, that we might remain faithful to life’s end; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.

Collect of the Week:

Let us pray…

Heavenly Father, we take great comfort in knowing that the prayer of a righteous person has much power. We confess that we are in no way righteous by our own merits, for we indeed sin much and deserve nothing but punishment. Yet in your mercy, you sent your only Son to win for us the robe of his righteousness, given to us in our baptism, which allows us full access to come to you as dear children approach their dear fathers. Thank you for hearing our prayers and listening to the Holy Spirit, who also intercedes for us when we do not have the words to utter. Through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Collect of the Week:

Let us pray…

O God, You make the minds of Your faithful to be of one will. Grant that we may love what You have commanded and desire what You promise, that among the many changes of this world our hearts may be fixed where true joys are found; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Collect of the Week:

Let us pray…

Almighty and everlasting God, You are the Good Shepherd and desire only good for us.  Forgive us, Your wayward lambs for the times we go astray and do not heed Your voice.  Gently bring us back to the fold and lead us on the paths of righteousness.  Bless all under-shepherds as they nurture and care for us, Your flock; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.

Collect of the Week:

Let us pray…

Almighty and everlasting God, You teach us that children are a gift.  Forgive us for our selfishness of body and soul, for not trusting Your divine wisdom for our lives.  Teach us to trust You to provide for our needs, not simply our wants.  Give us those things only which are beneficial for us; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.

Collect of the Week:

Let us pray…

Lord God, You teach us to pray in all circumstances.  Thank You for Your Holy Word and Holy Sacraments, which bring true consolation.  We ask You this day to preserve our lives from sin.  Give us strength to withstand the temptations of the devil to pity ourselves and help us to see that You provide for all our needs of body and soul.  Help us to turn to You for comfort, for true peace comes from You, not from ourselves. Give us courage to stand firmly on Your Word and to share Your love with our neighbors; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.
